A Letter from Plum's CEO
Dear Customer,
My name is Gennaro Palladino, and I am the Chief Executive Officer of Plum Practicewear. As we have experienced many changes over the past 2 years and have been receiving emails from customers with questions, I felt it was important to reach out to you to provide an update on what has been going on at Plum.
First and foremost, Plum has always been committed to producing a quality end product that puts the athlete first. This commitment will never change and we are always looking for ways to improve. In 2019, we placed a concerted effort toward evaluating the comfort, durability, and structure of our products and invested in making revisions that included revising the fit of our garments across all sizes, adding lining to our leos as needed, and making enhancements to our material selections to increase the comfort and support that our customers expect. When COVID hit in March of 2020, small businesses like ours had to make hard decisions about how to move forward and for Plum, it was important to proceed with our planned enhancements.
Thankfully, with the support of customers like you, Plum was lucky enough to remain in business and keep our full-time staff employed during the shut-down and beyond. Unfortunately, some of our local vendors did not fare as well and either closed their doors or could not guarantee deadlines due to staffing fluctuations. In addition, our global supply chain and transportation systems were disrupted, including materials like cotton thread that Plum heavily relies on for its fabrics. As a result, Plum had to utilize new vendors for the Spring, Summer, and Olympic Collections to keep production moving forward. Unfortunately, with this change, we experienced some unexpected manufacturing defects that were not in line with Plum’s usual standards and we would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our Plum family.
The good news is that our Fall 2021 Collection which launches on Thursday, September 2nd, will bring the soft and comfy fabric that our #PlumGirls have come to know and love. The anticipated fit refinements have been made, both to meet our specifications and also to support the feedback that you provided in order to make our products even better.
