Jordan Cerenzio Wins 2024 Plum Cares Academic Scholarship
Kenilworth, NJ — Jordan Cerenzio of Hillsborough, NJ, a dedicated level 10 gymnast training at Gymland in Hamilton, NJ, has been awarded the 2024 Plum Cares Academic Scholarship (PCAS). Jordan's commitment to excellence in academics and athletics and her passion for music, community, and gymnastics made her a standout candidate for this year's scholarship.
"I heard about the PCAS from past gymnasts who have attended my gym," Jordan shared. "They recommended that I apply, and I'm so glad I did."
The Plum Cares Academic Scholarship, offered by Plum, aims to support young athletes like Jordan who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, community involvement, and a commitment to their sport. The scholarship is part of the Plum Cares Program, an initiative by Plum to give back to the gymnastics community.
"When I first read the essay prompts for this year, I was immediately inspired," Jordan explained. "I absolutely love music because it brings me joy and peace, so I knew this scholarship was a perfect fit based on the requirements to apply and the question about music."
As a level 10 gymnast, Jordan is no stranger to hard work and dedication. "At almost all of my practices, I wore a plum leotard," Jordan noted. "They are by far the most comfortable leotards, and I also love the patterns that are available."
Jordan will be attending The Ohio State University this fall, where she plans to study Marketing and Sports Management
Looking ahead to her college years, Jordan has big plans. "I will be the manager of the Ohio State gymnastics team!" she exclaimed. "That is certainly what I am most excited about. I am also extremely excited to go to the football games!"
While Jordan is thrilled about her future endeavors, she acknowledges the challenges of leaving home. "I'm least excited about moving so far away from my family and friends, but I know that is a part of growing up," Jordan reflected. "I will still have an amazing time in college."
Jordan expressed her gratitude upon winning the scholarship. "I could not be more thrilled to have won the 2024 Plum Cares Academic Scholarship!" she said. "I feel so proud of myself for the time and effort that I put into the application, and I am also so grateful to my past gymnastics teammates who told me about this award."
